A Fresh Vision for North Lauderdale
Meet marA Fresh Vision for North Lauderdale
Meet Mar
Morfydd “Mar” Woodbine has been a North Lauderdale resident since 2001. She has actively been engaged in representing her community and has served with many organizations throughout Broward County for many years.
Mar, as she is affectionally known, through her community involvement, has provided invaluable contributions and services to the City of North Lauderdale. She is a director of the Kiwanis Club of North Lauderdale. She is also a member of the Tamarac/North Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce, Marjorie Forest Foundation, Florida Immigrant Coalition Citizenship Drive Program, and Jamaica Women of Florida.
Her activism has earned her many accolades and recognition. Among them, City of North Lauderdale Commendation for exemplary work in serving the community; 2024 State District 97 Inaugural Women’s International Month “LEAD Her” Award; 2024 Broward County 2024 Women’s National History Month Proclamation; 2023 Queen Mode Women Working in the Shadows Award; 2023 People Profile Community Executive Leadership Award; 2022 Majorie Forrest Foundation Unsung Hero Award, and the 2020-2021 Kiwanis Club of North Lauderdale Kiwanian of the Year Award.
Mar has always had a passion for serving the community and soon realized that she could have more of an impact on people’s everyday lives in serving her city, the City of North Lauderdale, as a local elected official.
As someone who has lived in the city and observed the changes for over 20 years, she has a fresh vision for the city. A vision to unite the city, its residents, and the commission. Not one member, one program, one section but a cohesive process, working with her colleagues and staff for a better quality of life for all residents of the City of North Lauderdale.
She is a devoted mother of 3 and grandmother of 5. Despite this, she still finds the time to be of extraordinary service to the community.
Who I Am
I have been an advocate and a champion of many programs in the City of North Lauderdale and throughout Broward County. This includes partnering with local organizations in conducting numerous free U.S. Citizenship application drives, for which I received a commendation from the City Commission for my exemplary work and efforts in serving the community. To promote child literacy, I implemented the program Reading is Fun in North Lauderdale, and on health awareness, a recent heath fair “Your Health is Your Wealth”. I continue looking for ways to partner with other organizations to educate the community and bring more resources to our city.
I currently serve as a director of the Kiwanis Club of North Lauderdale and was the recipient of the 2020-2021 Kiwanian of the Year Award. As an advocate and a community leader, my ability to listen and work with others has helped me in being a change agent for our residents. It is my desire to continue serving my community. I will use the knowledge and experiences I have gained over the years to assist me in obtaining my goals.
As your elected official, I will have a direct impact on people’s everyday lives. This is the reason I am running to be the next North Lauderdale Commissioner, District C.
Please join me this November to let your voice be heard. Your concerns are my priority. Let’s work together to make a better tomorrow for our city.
